Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before purchasing or using any product or service offered by Stitch Media ("we," "us," "our," or the "Company"), including our print and digital newspaper publications and any related website (the "Site").

By purchasing a single issue, purchasing a subscription, accessing our digital content, or otherwise using the Site, you ("you," "your," or "Customer") agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not purchase or use our products or services.

1. About Our Product

Stitch Media publishes Big World Times (the "Publication"), a newspaper that summarizes and adapts academic research into articles written for a children's audience. The Publication is available:

As a physical (print) copy, shipped to the address provided at checkout; and/or
As a digital copy, delivered electronically (e.g., PDF, app, or web access) to the email or account associated with the order.

The Publication may be purchased as a single issue or as a quarterly subscription, under which the Customer receives four (4) issues per year on the schedule published on the Site at the time of purchase. That schedule (including order cutoff dates, estimated printing windows, and estimated shipping windows) is subject to change, and all delivery windows are estimates, not guarantees, as further described in Section 6.

2. Who May Purchase

Our Publication is written for a children's audience, but purchases, accounts, and payment on the Site may only be made by individuals who are 18 years of age or older, or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction, and who have the legal authority to enter into these Terms (for example, a parent, guardian, teacher, or librarian purchasing on behalf of a child or classroom).

By placing an order, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are purchasing on behalf of a minor, you are responsible for supervising that minor's use of the Publication, including any digital or web-based components.

3. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 through the Site. Any account creation, checkout, or payment information must be submitted by an adult purchaser. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.

As a company based in British Columbia, Canada, our handling of personal information is governed by Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable British Columbia privacy legislation. Because we sell internationally, including to customers in the United States, we also aim to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) with respect to any data collected from children under 13.

Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information without consent may contact us at contact@knowledgestitch.com to request deletion.

4. Orders and Payment

All prices are listed in CAD and are subject to change without notice, except that a price change will not affect an order already placed and confirmed.
Payment is due in full at the time of purchase for single issues and at the time of each renewal for subscriptions.
You are responsible for providing accurate billing, shipping, and contact information. We are not liable for non-delivery or delayed delivery resulting from inaccurate information you provided.
We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or limit any order at our discretion, including in cases of suspected fraud, pricing errors, or unavailable inventory.

5. Subscriptions and Automatic Renewal

If you purchase a subscription:

Your subscription will automatically renew at the then-current subscription price at the start of each new subscription period, unless you cancel before the applicable renewal/order cutoff date.
You authorize us to charge your payment method on file for each renewal.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through our online shop (powered by Shopify). Cancellation will take effect for the next billing cycle; no partial refunds are issued for the issue currently in production or already shipped.
We will provide notice of any price increase to your subscription in advance of the renewal it affects, as required by applicable law.

6. Production, Shipping, and Delivery

Print issues require production and shipping time as disclosed on the Site at the time of order. Print issues are shipped internationally from our facility in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, via Canada Post. Order cutoff dates, print windows, and ship windows are estimates and may vary due to factors outside our control, including but not limited to printing delays, Canada Post or other postal/carrier delays, customs processing, international transit times, weather, and postal service disruptions.
International orders may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, or other fees levied by the destination country. These charges are the sole responsibility of the Customer and are not included in the price paid to Stitch Media. We are not responsible for delays caused by customs processing.
We do not guarantee delivery by a specific date. "Arrives in [Month]" language on the Site refers to an estimated delivery window, not a guaranteed delivery date, and international delivery windows may be longer than domestic (Canadian) ones.
Risk of loss and title for physical products pass to you upon our delivery to Canada Post. We are not responsible for packages lost, delayed, or damaged in transit once delivered to the carrier, though we may, at our sole discretion, assist with a carrier claim.
Digital issues are made available via the delivery method described at checkout (e.g., email, download link, or account access). It is your responsibility to ensure your email address is accurate and that your device/software can access the delivered file format.
If an order is placed after the applicable cutoff date for an issue, it will automatically be applied to the next scheduled issue, as described on the Site.

7. Returns, Refunds, and Cancellations

Digital products, once delivered or made accessible, are generally non-refundable, except where required by law.
Physical products: Damaged or defective issues may be reported within 14 days of delivery for a replacement or refund; we do not accept returns for reasons other than damage or defect.
Subscription cancellations are handled as described in Section 5.
We reserve the right to deny a refund request that we reasonably believe is fraudulent or abusive.

8. Content Disclaimer

The Publication adapts and summarizes academic and scientific research into content intended for children. You acknowledge and agree that:

The Publication is provided for general educational and entertainment purposes only and is not a substitute for professional, medical, psychological, or educational advice.
While we make reasonable efforts to accurately represent the underlying research, simplification and adaptation of complex material for a children's audience necessarily involves interpretation, and we do not guarantee that any article is complete, current, scientifically precise, or free of error.
Underlying academic research may itself later be revised, retracted, or contradicted by subsequent studies; we are not responsible for the accuracy of third-party research we summarize.
Any actions taken based on the content of the Publication are taken at your own (or your child's) discretion and risk.

9. Intellectual Property

All content in the Publication and on the Site — including text, articles, illustrations, layout, and design — is owned by Stitch Media or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Purchase of an issue or subscription grants you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-commercial license to read and use the content for your own or your household's/classroom's personal use. You may not reproduce, redistribute, resell, publicly display, or create derivative works from the Publication without our prior written consent, except for incidental classroom or personal use (e.g., a teacher photocopying a single purchased issue for their own class).

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

The Publication and Site are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
In no event will Stitch Media, its officers, employees, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of use, or emotional distress, arising out of or related to your purchase or use of the Publication or Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Publication, or the Site — regardless of the form of action — will not exceed the amount you actually paid us for the specific order giving rise to the claim in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you, and you may have additional rights.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Stitch Media and its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Publication or Site, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Force Majeure

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disaster, pandemic, labor disputes, printing or supply chain disruptions, postal or carrier disruptions, or governmental action.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued purchase or use of the Publication or Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For active subscribers, material changes affecting your subscription will be communicated as required by applicable law.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in British Columbia, Canada.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms remain in full force and effect.
